Job Title: Research Assistant, Sustainability Metrics

Reports To: Associate Director, Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management

 

The Earth Institute’s Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management is seeking a research assistant to provide support on a research project on urban sustainability metrics in China for summer 2016. The intern will assist with a study that integrates various methodologies to design a robust new sustainability metrics framework and indicator set that covers the economic, environmental, social and institutional aspects of sustainability for Chinese cities. The intern will perform research and comparative analyses of existing frameworks in China and internationally, collect sustainability data for Chinese cities, and perform statistical analyses to pare down indicators.

The position requires excellent research, writing, and analytical skills. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of qualitative information into concise, understandable material. The candidate must be organized and precise, able to handle large amounts of quantitative data, and a background in statistical analysis. The candidate must be able to deliver under multiple deadlines and work independently. Applicants should be highly motivated, professional and detail oriented. A strong interest in the environment and sustainable development is preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in Chinese and English required. Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.
