Job Description: The Research Program on Sustainability Policy & Management seeks a Grant & Fundraising intern to assist on a circular economy project. The Program is working with the startup MOBY, which is creating a filter designed to capture and upcycle microfibers before they pollute the environment, enter food supply chains and affect people’s health. The Grant & Fundraising intern will aid in researching fundraising opportunities, identify and draft grant proposals, manage a grants calendar, and keep track of various materials and deadlines. The intern will work closely with grant and fundraising professionals, as well as with the rest of the team to learn more about microfibers and closed-loop systems.
The Earth Institute’s Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management provides a rigorous analytic base to help inform sustainability decision-making. Our research addresses the fundamental issues facing professionals and policy makers implementing sustainability strategies. We seek to better understand the mechanisms behind sustainability management, in order to develop and promote more effective public policies and organizational practices.
Skills Required: The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and precise in order to deliver under multiple deadlines. The candidate must be able to multitask, work independently and as part of a team. Applicants should be highly motivated, professional and detail oriented. A background in grant writing or fundraising, as well as a strong interest in sustainable solutions for aquatic environments is preferred.
