The Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management (SPM) at the Earth Institute is seeking to hire students for research support for a variety of projects. Each student will be teamed with a researcher, and will help them directly with tasks relating to the development of new research endeavors and programmatic support. The students’ tasks may include desktop research, data collection and analysis, administrative support and other responsibilities as needed. The students may also be asked to support the Research Program in other projects as needed.
The projects we’ll be hiring for in the summer are the following:
1. Climate finance-related project, guided by Satyajit Bose
2. Sustainability education-related project, guided by Dong Guo and Anyi Wang
3. Sustainability management-related project, guided by Steve Cohen
The students are expected to work up to 10 hours a week, and will be given the opportunity to work one day a week at the SPM offices close to the Morningside campus.
The Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management provides a rigorous analytic base to help inform sustainability decision-making. Our research addresses the fundamental issues facing professionals and policy makers implementing sustainability strategies. We seek to better understand the mechanisms behind sustainability management, in order to develop and promote more effective public policies and organizational practices.
Skills Required: The position requires excellent interpersonal, research and writing skills, and a strong interest in the environment, sustainability, sustainable development and climate finance. Prior research and/or sustainability experience is preferred. The students must be able to multitask, work independently and as part of a team on several projects. Applicants should be highly motivated, professional and detail oriented.
